Featured at GE's annual public Minds + Machines conference an Industrial Internet event dedicated to software, innovation, and the most powerful digital industrial outcomes. This video made a formal announcement to the site that had been evolving since 2015.
The video demonstrates the basic global site search functionality. As simple as it seems, this is a powerful tool to empower employees with transparency to company wide initiative in technology like never before.
The Digital Exchange was inherently made for responsive use considering the varying nature of locations for GE Employees weather it be in an office to deep sea oil platform.
Introduced as the last update to the site, this multifunctional tiled header serves as area to display the latest articles, videos, and solutions for the site as well as still giving prominence to the key search feature.
As to be expected from most contemporary navigation systems, having an omni present search button built in is a must. We needed extra real-estate to display the varied depth of content that search would encompass though, so I created an intuative full screen search.
Community, collaboration and knowledge transfer are at the heart of this site. This are shown under the fold prominently displays key players within the space new user videos and additional development tools.
Given the vast depth of content within site we developed a granular filtered search that efficiently draws the user in the right direction in order to compare and contrast what solution is best for them.
Solutions are the meat and potatoes of what the users are trying to attain. This section not only provides the data/code, documentation and media associated to product solution, but it lists the team members involved and you are able to communicate with them directly. Each solution must be framed around what is the problem you want to fix, what approach you took to fix it, and what does it do and how.
This video goes through a basic non audio based tour of a typical use case from the site. It serves up navigation, search, etc.
This ad was featured on all GE Digital Hub locations across the globe to spread awareness of the new site.
We continued the evolution of the Digital Exchange into portal to sell software solutions that were fully realized within the exchange. Although the e-commerce experience we did not release this expanded capability outside of the company.
Selling highly tailored company specific software solutions is innately not a typical e-commerce experience - but we aimed to make the transactional element and set up as user friendly and painless as possible.
We continued the evolution of the Digital Exchange into portal to sell software solutions that were fully realized within the exchange. Tied in with basic metrics like sales we provided performance metrics that were tied into that specific asset.
An import side element of the project was making communications between not only teams within the companies but developers as well remarkably improved. We created a GE specific version of StackOverflow which was a huge success.
Spreading from just developers to wider adoption by Project and Product Managers of StackOverflow.
